The starting point: an old forgotten winery.

The company "Colección de Toneles Centenarios" was founded from the discovery of an extraordinary treasure: the unaltered barrel room of an old producing winery.

In the town of Cañada, in Alicante DOP, Spain there were many wineries linked to families, as in many other towns on the Mediterranean coast. All of them followed traditional methods and made their wines from their own vineyards. About 60 years ago, they fell into disuse when the Cooperative Wineries in the area were founded. Over time this caused them all to be dismantled; but in the basement of the Ferrero - Nacher family winery, the aging barrel room was preserved intact, in conditions of darkness, constant temperature and humidity.

The Centennial Barrel Collection:

- 10 barrels of 800 liters, from the end of the 19th century.

- 4 barrels of 850 liters, from the end of the 19th century.

- 11 500-liter boots, from the beginning of the 20th century.

The fact of finding barrels of such old age, in their original location is something out of the ordinary. However, the biggest surprise we found inside them: many of them contained wine with a high level of concentration ... Fondillones that had remained inside the barrels for more than 60 years.

The barrels were sealed, and the forgetfulness and the good conditions of the room worked the great miracle.

Since then and in association with the owner family, we have worked hard to give continuity to the Alto Vinalopó fondillón.

Our project includes:

Elaboration of wines suitable for Fondillón from the old vineyards of the old winery.

Classification and conservation of the old barrels, with the help of the last master coopers in the area.

Bottling of the fondillones and marketing of the fondillones under the "single barrel" philosophy in its superior range.

Rehenchido, sealed and later conservation until the new sack.

Follow us on one of the greatest possible oenological adventures: continuing one of the oldest and most valued wines in the world since the 15th century: the Fondillón de Alicante.
